American Teens: Heart and “Soul” of Kia

It might have been the Accord from Avon Honda back in the day, but the newest “Best New Car for Your Teen” according to Kiplinger’s Personal Finance is the 2010 Kia Soul. We have to agree with them 100%. When you look at how youthful the Soul is, there is no way that the vehicles from Jeep Memphis would win the hearts of American teenagers. Kia has found a way to bring quality products to the market in packaging that is appealing to one of the largest buying populations. We won’t see teens buying a Buick Enclave Milwaukee; perhaps their parents would enjoy one, though!
So what makes a car a perfect fit for a teenager? Many parents would hope that the car would excel in safety ratings, be reliable, come with a warranty, and be affordable because a teen’s car is usually the second or third vehicle a family will be making payments on. The 2010 Kia Soul comes with a sticker price of only $15,890, is reportedly retaining its resale value by 56% after three years, and the cost of ownership is low compared to other vehicles. When you look at it through that looking glass, perhaps more Americans should be buying the Kia Soul rather than paying an arm and a leg for boring grown-up cars that all look alike!
This award from Kiplinger’s is just one more award to go in the Kia Soul trophy case. They earned “Top Safety Pick” for 2009 and 2010 from the IIHS, it is pet friendly according to AAA, it makes the list of family favorite cars according to Motherproof.com, Edmunds.com, and Parents Magazine. We could list out all the standard cool features you get, but perhaps it is the exciting features that are earning this vehicle’s stellar reputation. One cool piece of Kia Soul trivia; there were four special edition models for 2010. With names like Shadow Dragon Soul and Ghost Soul, it is clear as day why people keep falling in love with the Kia Soul!
