Kia is offering a new vehicle for the New Zealand market and it is looking to compete with fellow automaker Hyundai for some of the top auto markets in New Zealand. The i45 by Hyundai was once a top selling model, and it still is one of the top selling models, but the Optima has taken over this model as being the premiere selling model in Korea. The Optima is seen as a cleaner and stronger i45 while the i45 has been criticized by some for its looks. The Optima features a body that is not too imposing and the latest technology features. The Optima replaces the Kia Magentis and it has been tuned for off-road travel like the Sportage, which is another popular model in both Australia and New Zealand.

Kia has expanded its production and combined with Hyundai they are the fifth largest automaker in the world. Hyundai is expanding its aggressive marketing plan in order to take over key markets throughout the world that have historically been dominated by automakers like BMW, GM, and Toyota. Kia will continue to develop new models that are targeted for particular markets like New Zealand.
