Kia Borrego’s Year of R&R!
The Ford F-150 Inventory should have no problem selling quickly this year. The newly redesigned and upgraded interior makes it family friendly with a large backseat. And the small compact Versa from Nissan Hartford has been getting praised for its great value to purchase and own. One great vehicle that has taken a recent break from production is the Kia Borrego. Its 2009 model did not get the best reviews and U.S. News ranked it 17 out of 23 for the category affordable midsize SUVs. Kia decided to halt production and work on improvements for its re-release in 2011. The 2009 models are still available for purchase at Kia and you can always find a used model at Peoria VW Dealer.
The thing that Kia did well with its 2009 Borrego was to make sure it could seat seven passengers and produce a solid body and frame construction. The rugged look sets it apart from the car crossover SUV that is gaining popularity. Consumers report that the Borrego offers a truck-like ride, but that it feels solid enough to live up to its off-road performance expectations. The Borrego gets less than decent fuel economy, with 17 mpg around town and 21 mpg on the highway. The Toyota Venza is an option for more fuel conscious drivers. You will lose some cargo room, but you get 19 mpg city and 26 mpg highway in return plus a lower price tag.
The 2009 Borrego was available in three trim levels; base LX, EX, and Limited. Two-wheel drive came standard and four-wheel drive was an option. Drivers have the option of either a V6 or V8 engine, depending on their fuel economy wishes and hauling needs. The exterior of the SUV did not win any innovation awards; the boxy finish reminds you of several prior SUVs on the market.
It will be interesting to see the improvements Kia will have made for the Borrego now that they have had a year to work on it. Perhaps we can hope to see better fuel economy and a smoother suspension?
