2010 Kia Optima-Safety First!

Like most cars found at Kansas City Used Cars, the Optima carries a five year/60,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty and a ten year/100,000 mile powertrain warranty. The Kia Optima was given five stars for the ability to protect both driver and front passenger in a frontal impact crash. They also received five stars for protecting both driver and rear seat passengers in side impact crashes and four stars for the ability to avoid rollovers. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has yet to test the 2010 model, but the almost identical 2009 model was given a rating of “Good” in frontal impact crash tests, but only received a rating of “Average” in side impact tests. The headrests were ranked “Good” for the ability to reduce whiplash injuries. They also performed a new roof strength test that is designed to measure the strength of the roof in a rollover, they received a score of “Marginal”.

at, advanced airbag features, trunk release, 4-wheel ABS, seat belt pretensions, side airbags in the front, tire pressure monitor, child seat lower anchorage, energy management feature and head airbags in the front. The Optima also comes standard with satellite radio, steering wheel mounted audio controls and key-less entry. Some more advanced features include a navigation system and Bluetooth capabilities.
There weren’t very many pros or cons listed on this vehicle. US News stated that this vehicle has a lower sticker price than most competitors, it come with a lengthy basic powertrain warranty and that the well built cabin impresses reviewers for the price. Some of the cons listed were that the braking and steering were not that great and that the available V6 engine is one of the weakest in it’s class.
The MSRP on the 2010 Kia Optima is around $17,995-$22,795. Not to bad for a midsize car that comes with so many safety features and extras.
