The 2011 Kia Optima has just earned their latest award from the Esquire Magazine of ” The Most Gorgeous Car Under $20K”.  With receiving that, Kia is among the nine finalists in the “The 2011 Esquire Design and Technology Awards”.  The editors at the men’s magazine applauded it, saying “clean and inspiring”.  It was also noted that it has the upscale feel with an extraordinary value.

This is what Michael Sprague, the Vice President of marketing and communication, of Kia Motors America said ” Esquire defines and shapes men’s style and fashion in today’s contemporary culture, and in this recognition further validates the Optima’s tremendous value proposition with its unmatched combination of world class design, advanced technology and fun to drive performance.”  He also said ” With the stunning design and value of the Optima has significantly increased awareness, perception and c0nsideration for the Kia brand, and with demand continuing to outpace supply, we are looking forward to the first U.S. built Optima arriving in showrooms in the coming weeks”.

Esquire is not the only one that has noticed the 2011 Kia Optima, it has received many awards for everything it is doing right.  It received the “Editor’s Most Wanted” from Edmund’s Inside Line, the 2011 “Best New Model” from Kiplingers Personal Finance, and in part of the “Ward’s 10 Best Interiors”.  It has a stack of safety awards from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and from Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS).  It received the 2011 “Top Safety Pick” by the IIHS and then an overall five star crash rating from the NHTSA.

In the news, the vehicles that seem to get so much attention is the makers with the design changes.  The Kia Optima is one, the 2011 Hyundai Sonata and the 2011 Suzuki Kizashi.  All of them have style, design and fuel efficiency under their belts.  Everyone of these makers is has stepped into the next level.  They each have shown they can compete in the luxury field, if the consumers look at them.

I have a Kizashi and I love, love, love it.  It has everything I want, with all the features, the right price for my budget and I cherish the fuel mileage.  The warranty is something I thought about because I am a military spouse, traveling for family happens every year.  Then we have kids, that will be driving soon, scary but this will be the perfect fit for them.

We did not look at a Kia, just because the closest dealership is a good 45 minutes away.  I suggest, if you are thinking of a new vehicle, test drive them, all vehicles are not the same.  Look at the controls, see if they are convenient and easy to learn.  See what you can get for your price, negotiate your terms and buy a that defines who you are.

Also check your local PA Kia Dealership for the 2011 Kia Optima and other quality Kia models. The Kia Optima was redesigned to help it compete against the Accord and other mid sized sedans, and it looks like the redesign has paid off with the Optima edging out the Accord in the latest Consumer Reports test. Consumer Reports pitted the two models against each other and the result is that the Optima now ranks in the top 10 among four cylinder family sedans ranked by the review company. The Optima is ranked sixth, which is ahead of the Honda Accord as well as the Suzuki Kizashi. The Optima beat the Accord by just one point.

With a base MSRP of just $10,735, the Kia Rio is touted as “still the most affordable 4-door sedan in America.” Certainly, when it comes to price, the Rio is a winner. The Optima replaced a previous sedan by Kia and sales for the Optima have been up for the year through March. Kia sold over 15,000 in the United States through March which was up 68 percent from 2010 during the first three months. Kia will produce 150,000 Optima models per year at the plant which will then be exported or sold in the United States. All sales of the Optima in the United States will come from the plant after production begins, and at the moment the Optimas that are sold in the United States are produced in Kia’s Korean facilities.

The Hyundai Sante Fe is currently produced at the factory and is one of the most popular vehicles that Hyundai-Kia sells in the United States. With the addition of the Kia Optima to the plant, work at the plant is expected to be high because the plant currently has a 300,000 unit per year production capacity. Kia and Hyundai models are both in increased demand, and it is expected that these models will continue to be in demand over the next few years, and production has to match the level of demand to avoid inventory shortages.

Kia sold over 10,000 Soul models in the month of March and for 2011 Kia has sold over 22,000 Soul models. Comparatively, the xB has sold less than 5,000 and the Cube has sold a little under 7,000, so the Soul is far more popular than either of these two models and it has outsold both models combined. Although that might be a bit unfair, because the new Kia is such a good all round package that you could very conceivably opt to buy another one from places like Kia Dealer Middletown. But, as Hyundai owners found out with the five-year deal offered by the Korean giant on its new products, it makes shifting the car second-hand an easier proposition when you can sell it after three years with two years of the deal still to go. Now Kia have beaten that with a incredible seven-year 100,000-mile warranty on the new cee’d, which went on sale in the UK in February. It’s probably the most important car they have ever launched in the UK, taking over from the worthy but not exactly top-selling Cerato. It’s been designed in Europe, because if you want a car to appeal to Europeans the only place to put it together is in Europe. It’s built in Europe at a new state-of-the-art factory in Slovakia. And it’s sold exclusively in Europe. And to make it sell, they’ve given it a Euro hatchback look, with the sort of neat five-door styling that makes it look not a lot different to its main rivals, the Focus/Golf/307/Astra/Megane quartet in the C sector. Later in the year comes the three-door, and Motoring Citizen readers probably won’t have missed the convertible concept we featured a while back. If that doesn’t get people into cee’d ownership, then I don’t know what will. Where they’ve attempted to win over converts – apart from with the warranty – is in the standard equipment, which includes driver and front passenger active head restraints (you can never have too many safety features in my opinion); air con with a cooled glove box; and USB port, AUX input and MP3 capability on all but entry-level models because they know we all like using our i Pods. Our test car, the 1.6 diesel-powered offering, combined decent performance with good economy over our time behind the wheel, and the clutch and five-speed gearbox have a synchronicity that others will be envious of. Quick, smooth changes prompt you to tick the ‘exemplary’ box. Brakes are good, progressive and with no snatching, so you can bring it to a quick halt without any dramas and, while there’s a bit of body roll evident if you indulge in some exuberant cornering, it has an overall user-friendly set up that will win it a lot of chums. Ride is comfortable, and it absorbs potholes and undulations well. Seats are OK – not over-supportive, and maybe a bit on the flat side, but certainly comfortable enough. You can drive a fair way without any aches of pains to distract you. Its wide-track, long wheelbase and relatively tall roof line means here is plenty room aboard for five adults, and there’s a decent boot for luggage too, before you start playing around with the rear seats to get Great Aunt Maud’s antique chest of drawers back home.

It’s roomy and well-priced, starting at under £11,000 on the road, with our test car, an LS spec vehicle with the 1.6 CRDi engine, the most expensive at £14,245. With its 115bhp and 255Nm of torque at 1900rpm upwards, acceleration was again given good marks. Not earth-shattering, but not at all bad.

The interior is neat without setting the world on fire but the info panel in the center gives all the relevant information you could possibly need. There’s also a set of lights to let you know if those in the back are belted up. A neat touch but possibly a bit superfluous.

Like I said, the cee’d’s been planted, and it will grow. Kia are aiming for three per cent of the UK market and 100,000 sales annually. It’s not an unrealistic target.
